The visual field refers to everything you can see. The Computerized Visual Field (CVF) test evaluates both central vision (focused straight ahead) and peripheral vision (side vision). This test is important for diagnosing many eye diseases, especially glaucoma (eye pressure),as well as retinal and neurological conditions.
Glaucoma is an eye disease usually caused by increased intraocular pressure, which can lead to slow, painless, and permanent vision loss. During the test, the specialist uses computerized instruments to map the visual field. Pupil dilation is not required for this test. The test takes about 10–20 minutes per eye. The Computerized Visual Field Test is also called Perimetry.
